WCG's 13-year legacy of services and products addresses a broad range of labour market issues with industry-leading practices that have informed the way we operate today. Our legacy includes:
- Community Works/Community at Work/Business Works phases 1-3: Starting with the pilot program Community Works in 1994, continuing with Community at Work in 1995 and evolving into Business Works phases 1-3 in 1996 (the predecessor of Triumph and JobWave), these pioneering programs brought together local communities, business and clients to create on-the-job training opportunities, connect workers with employers and offer firms tax credits for placing program participants.
- JobsNow: Begun in April 2005, WCG’s JobsNow program ran through 2007 and focused on moving long-term welfare recipients into unsubsidized employment in Ontario. The program was modeled after the successful JobWave initiative in BC and was tailored to meet the needs of the Ontario labour market. The program operated in conjunction with the provincial Ministry of Community & Social Services and the Ontario Works program.
- Enhanced Community Employment Services: This pilot program, which was launched in 2006 and ran for two years, was designed to help individuals being released from prison integrate back into the job market by offering employment training and preparation; job placement and post-placement retention.
- STEP to Work Youth Employment Program: This initiative assisted youth aged 15-18 living in BC Housing Authority complexes achieve their first work experiences. The program consisted of one week of training followed by four weeks of on-the-job experience.
- Catch Your Career Wave: 214 pages of practical, proven techniques from frontline job-finding pros. Catch Your Career Wave includes information to help you recover quickly from a job loss and build your self-esteem; assess your skills and learn how to promote them; create cover letters and resumes that get attention; develop a personalized career-action plan; get behind the scenes of the job market to get the job you want.
- WOW-Skills.com: An online self-assessment and personal-growth tool designed to help you identify and develop your employability skills. WOW-Skills.com is the first comprehensive and fully interactive website in Canada to enable users to individually evaluate, develop and market their employability skills in today's world of work.
