Giving back
At WCG, a major part of what unites us is our belief in giving back to our communities through donations and volunteer work.
We regularly contribute to over 100 charities
and not-for-profit organizations throughout North America.

Charity highlights:

On June 21st, Frances Logan, one of our JobWave team members, completed a marathon walk of 42km in Anchorage, Alaska and raised $4500 in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

On June 8th, 2008, 12 of our WCG team members participated in 10k and 3k walks to cure juvenile diabetes. In conjunction with our cookbook sales benefiting the JDRF, we raised over $1000!

At WCG, we make a special effort to support charities that are close to the hearts of our team members. When one of our colleagues found out she needed to have a kidney removed as a result of kidney disease, we held a Don Your Denim Day in her honour and raised $2,666!

Every year, WCG holds a fundraising campaing for the United Way of Greater Victoria. In 2007, we set a company record by raising $25,565!

August 19-20, 2006
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer was a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Vancouver. Proceeds benefit the BC Cancer Foundation, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care.
Team Triumph formed to support one of our colleagues, Suzie, who had been recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
We met our minimum fundraising goal of $2000 each. In fact, we far surpassed it with the help of our family, friends and colleagues. Team Triumph raised almost $9000!!! Thank you to everyone who supported us on this journey!
WCG's participation in the Jeans Day 2006 campaign helped to raise an astounding $960,000 in support of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.

Supporting Children with Disabilities
The children of Frank Hobbs Elementary School in Victoria collaborated with sponsors, WCG, JobWave and Triumph Vocational Services volunteers to paint an orca for the BC Lions Society fundraiser - Orcas in the City. "Wave of Hope" is one of 53 Orcas on display throughout the summer, to be auctioned off in November. All money raised will assist kids with disabilities.
